I am back

After a 3 week hiatus I will be bringing this back up to speed. Today I looked at Jodh and compared him to old pics of him... I was blown away at how much had changed. I also had a visit from our good friends Harneil and Christina... and was reminded of how precious this time is!! Jodh loved hanging out with his big brother Chandan and sister Eshauna...

Jodh's Passport

Punam and I took Jodh to Japan Camera in Sunridge Mall... basically the only place we could find that actually specialized in infant passport photography. What I don't understand is... Jodh is changing so much. Apparently the passport is good for 3 years!! He has changed so much in a mere weeks... wait until that imminent Gill nose takes over... it will change his look FOR SURE...

Nadim Uncle at the airport...

We ran into Nadim and Katey by fluke at the airport. They were on their way back from Phoenix back to Saskatoon. This puts a little pressure on his brother Nadif and Leslie who live in the same city!! When are you bringing big sisters Jaden and Zuri by!!

Zoo zoo zoo zoo ZOODLES!!
Jodh's first trip to the zoo. Grand Aunt Barb wanted to see the zoo so we packed it all up and headed out. It was a great experience as we keep learning how to take care of Jodh in different environments. It will help us later when we travel.

I love this pic... its amazing to see the motherly instinct in these monkeys we saw at the Zoo... the mother diligently takes care of her young one while the deadbeat dad takes a nap... naps are so sweeeet...

Grand Aunty Barb and Aunty Emily

Jim's sister Barb from Victoria visited us from Victoria. I had to rent a gas guzzling large SUV as a people mover and we were able to get out to Canmore for lunch. I think its time to put in some serious thought on getting a people mover. Mini-van? SUV? If I do get the mini-van I am putting on a Dungeons and Dragons scene like those classic early 80's vans... or getting some red rims like the A-team van.

Happy One Month Jodh (Happy birthday to me)

Jodh is one month old!! Has it been a month already? I have to see not much has changed with Jodh... albiet a little bit chunkier... he has gained a bit of weight and is eating well. Punam gave me the thumbs up to have my first golf day and go out for a few drinks with the boys. It was a classic night ending up at a late night Singapore Sam's run which erased at least a month of dieting and running...

Is it too early for an educational trip to the Royal Tyrrell Museum?

I haven't splurged for the "Many People Mover" yet so I decided to go rent one from Budget. They offered a free upgrade to what they call a full-sized gas guzzler since the nice lady saw that my birthday was around the corner... so I took it. We loaded the little man up and took off to Drumheller's Royal Tyrrell Museuem. Ok ok... we didn't go for Jodh... we all felt restless inside the house so I suggested Drumheller. I had not been since 1995 and I thought it would be fun. It ended up being a great trip as we hit up a great burger joint (Bernie and the Boys) and spent several hours in the museum.

Sudbury Gill's

Navi Uncle and my cousin Brook jumped on a plane to come visit Jodh. It meant a lot to me for them to come. Navi Uncle was 11 years old when he first came to Canada and I was only a few months old at that time. He is more an older brother than an Uncle to me. We had a blast on his visit as Punam took Brook out to Crossiron Mills shopping center and my Uncle and I did some damage to some scotch with my dad and Grandfather. Anyone who knows me can agree that my favorite thing in the whole world is having family and friends get together. Its what I live for. As you can see by the living room picture and watching the first game of the Stanley Cup Final in the Tej Cave.

Sajana's Grad

We were not going to miss Sajana's Grade 12 Grad. So we packed up the Lil'Goat and took him to the Jubilee Auditorium. He did extremely well and only flipped out at the end of the ceremony (phew). These small trips and outings actually help us handle him in public really well. For now it is ok... and we try to take advantage of his "scheduled cues" but I am wary of when he will get his "voice" and we will have to adjust. For now we are just going to try to keep doing as many things as we can.
The Massey family continues to be very important in our lives and we are pumped that the three girls will be positive role models for Jodh in the future.

Wedding Reception

So we decided to take a two and a half week old to an Indian Wedding reception... FOOLS you might say!!! Actually it went really well as Punam was able to dress up and look absolutely FABULOUS... and Jodh was able to support a nice little red turban that his Dadima was able to fashion for him.
Congratulations to Monica and Mohit!! We were really happy to be able to attend. Monica's brother Navi was very thoughtful to put us near an exit and far away from the speakers. I spent most of the time with Jodh in the lobby when the music started pounding... so that his mom could go cut some rug on the dance floor. (Don't feel sorry for me as Uncle JP and Uncle Paul were able to feed me a steady supply of Crown and Cokes). It was really great to see Punam up and and about so soon after having Jodh. She has been doing fantastic and I am learning how to parent from her direction. I figure if we can navigate a kid at an Indian wedding reception with a constant attack of Aunties fussing over him, loud talking and music, food that stains worse than #2's, and drunken Uncles giving me painful back slaps congratulating me... we can cross the Sahara Desert with the little goat...

James Nana

James Nana was able to have a short stop over from Ottawa on route to Victoria to see his family for his 60th birthday.

Great Grandpa Harchand

Great Grandpa Harchand is visiting us right now. My Grandfather and I have been very close over the years since he first came to Canada when I was 6 months old. We are starting our series in the popular Indian card game of "Sweep." Of course I am going to whoop his ancient butt!! Gramps and I were able to spend some time in the Tej Cave (my basement) and watch Chicago beat San Jose to sweep the series and reach the Stanley Cup finals together with the Jodhster. I am really happy he is here to give me a pat on the back and see Jodh and know that his legacy lives on. The 4 generation picture is one of the proudest moments in my life. Too bad I look like I am geared up to support an Italian soccer team with my greasy hair. We will have to take a better picture!!
Arminder, Suman and Amrita drove down from Fort McMurray to come see Jodh. Suman could not wait to get her hands on her nephew. Thanks for driving down and making such an effort!! It meant alot to Punam and I!!
